Cardrona - Opening 27th June 2008

New High-speed detachable quad chairlift in Captains Basin.

The chair is two and a half times quicker than the old quad. The ride to the top now only takes 3.5 minutes.

Expanded snowmaking in Captains Basin.

New expanded Pizzeria at Captains Basin doubling the seating capactiy.

Three new jumps in the terrain park. 11m, 14m and 17m. All jumps are true table top design, a first in NZ.

Coronet Peak - Opening 7th June 2008

$20m investement this summer has seen the biggest changes to Coronet Peak since its inception in 1947.

There are two main developments:

A major redevelopment of the base building facilities will help accommodate the growing number of visitors to the resort.

Secondly a massive investment in snowmaking that has increased the number of automated guns to 193 and manual guns to 50.

The new snowmaking will effectively lengthen the snowsports season, offering more rideable terrain from season opening and vastly improve skiing and riding surfaces throughout the season.

The Remarkables - Opening 21st June 2008

Burton Snowboards and The Remarkables have announced the development of The Stash®, a completely different kind of run that adds a new dimension to snowboarding.


The Stash® at The Remarkables is only the third run of its kind worldwide and the first in the Southern Hemisphere.

Riders will discover rock-wall rides, log jibs, cliff drops, a stone hut and other one-of-a-kind obstacles hidden away in The Stash® run.

An all-natural environment, The Stash® uses no metal or plastics to create obstacles, only stone, wood, dirt and rocks.

Snowpark - Opening 20th June 2008

New slopestyle lane.


New Half pint park for novice riders.


Now open two nights a week from 4pm to 9pm for night skiing and riding.
